Laying It Down


I have found joy
Sweet, sweet joy!

I remember
When I still struggled
With life
Trying to figure things out
All by myself

Trying to live life
By my rules
Serving myself

Uh, subtle idolatry!

Trying to fulfil
My selfish desires
Consumed with "I"

Then satisfaction fled
Nothing worked out
Confusion set in

He then told me...
Lay it all down
Give it away

It was hard!

It was difficult
To let go
It was difficult
To stop being in control

But it paid off!

Clarity came
Joy was restored
Oh, how soothing it is
When we trust God

Joy! Pure joy
Awaits us!

Trust in his leading
Lay it down!

Who is in charge of your life? You or God?  Give all your plans away, let Him direct the course of your life, and you would see that He makes lives beautiful!

So, I watched the movie; The Train on Sunday and I was all shades of reactions, from ahhing to wowing. At some points I prayed, laughed, spoke to the person beside me and had deep thoughts within myself. The movie chronicles the real life story of Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, and it is a movie indeed for the season. Anybody who truly wants to know the definition of Purpose, must watch it. Anyone who wants to know the meaning of Walking with God, must watch it.  Purpose is not Instagram photos! Purpose is Death! You die to your senses and fleshly desires! Purpose is Crazy Faith! Purpose is giving yourself up! Purpose is being foolish in the eyes of man and seeing through the eyes of God. Watching the movie, I learnt so many lessons and I would love to share some here: 1. IF HE DID IT BEFORE

I thought I would be broken if I got the news I just got, but funny enough, I am not. I have been thanking God, praising Him for what happened, singing songs to glorify Him. A particular song has been on replay ever since I heard the news "Thank you for being God" by Travis Greene. I cried when I heard but  I am not sad neither am I depressed, I see this as one of those fire I must walk through to be tested in order to come out purified, I see God using this to make me become stronger, I see greater testimonies on the way, I see the situation as God's way of making my future testimony sweeter. I see the story as one that would help me reach out to other people in the future who may be in the same situation. I see God turning the situation for my good; my friend sent a voice note about God working everything for my good. I don't see the failure, I see a stepping stone to success, I see God saying: you are coming out stronger and better. God is indeed good, as I paused

PLEASE OBEY

I remember the night I finally broke the relationship, I cried. I cried so much that I did not want to stop, my eyes were shot red and I almost got an headache. I was bitter, I asked why it couldn't be him, I was angry, I was sorry I had hurt him. I asked God to let it be him but I just could not disobey because I already heard the voice warning me about remaining in the relationship; but I still loved him (I thought). But one day as I thought about him God said something that I would never forget: If you are with him, you would never find your purpose, you would not discover me nor your place in my kingdom, you would be limited and just live ordinarily. There are some company we keep in life that will limit our destiny. It is not that they intentionally want to limit us, but our incompatibility in terms of destiny with them will make us unable to find ourselves when we are with them.
