Love in action

Why are you keeping God's commands? Is it because it suits your present circumstance? Why are you serving Jesus? Is it to get healed of that disease? Hope you are planning to make heaven because you love God and not because you are afraid of hell.

So many times, we do things out of fear rather than out of love. As believers, at times, we want to avoid sins and as a result, we become sin-conscious. And then, we tend to just want to know what is or is not sin to avoid God's wrath and not because we are committed to pleasing Him. As children of God, whatever we do should be out of our love for God and not out of the fear of his wrath upon the children of disobedience. God's nature is love, and it was as a result of this love that we were given the second chance to be reconciled to him. Jesus Christ is our second chance and, his death at the cross was for us and born out of his love for mankind. Yes, even while we were sinners, while we were unlovely and unlovable, Christ died for us; what manner of love!

Romans 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 3:16  Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1 John 4:9-10  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Now, Jesus as our second chance came to give us an escape way from sin and death and even from the overwhelming nature of the Law.
The truth is that no man can fulfil the law, in fact, no one under the law can be in right standing with God.

Romans 3:20  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

So then, what did Jesus do? How did he help us out? He gave us the greatest law "Love".

Matthew 22:37-40  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Love is absolutely to govern the heart of the church - Kenneth Hagin; Growing up, Spiritually

There is no trick to having a healthy church, or to serving God better than to first love him. We would never be able to please God if our hearts do not burn in love for Him. Until we come to the consciousness that we are born of God and therefore, born of love and hence have the divine nature of love in us, we would never be able to fully submit to Him.

Love is in action, it is a verb. And God gave us an example in giving Jesus Christ to atone for our sins; LOVE IN ACTION.

1 John 3:18  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Also, in dealing with ourselves as individuals, it is important that we treat ourselves with love. As believers, when we learn the love law and love walk, that is when we would be able to truly pursue peace with all men.
It is the lack of love that makes us easily hurt, envious, jealous, angry and exhibit other negative attitudes.
Examining the life of Cain and Abel, it was the lack of love that drove Cain into envy and eventually made him kill his brother.

There is a conquering that comes with love, yes, we are conquerors through love

Romans 8:37  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

The evidence of being a true child of God is love, for it was love that drew us close to the Father, love bridged the gap that sin made.
Yes, I am a love child of a love God

1 John 4:7, 12-13  Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

God's love for us is eternal and unconditional, there is no becauses with God's love. He loved us in our undeserving state and it is only in loving Him and others that we can truly please Him.

1 Corinthians 13:13 And so faith, hope, love abide [faith—conviction and belief respecting man’s relation to God and divine things; hope—joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love—true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love. (Amplified Version)
