Godfidence

Have you seen a little child who is on the verge of slipping, and on getting hold of the mother's wrapper clutches to it? There is a way the child clings to the mother, to show the trust and confidence he or she has in her(the mother).

That should be the same way we rely on, lean on, trust in, confide in and cleave unto God. Trusting in the Lord does not have to be when we are comfortable. In fact, tough situations that we encounter are what really proves whether we trust in the Lord or not.

At times, we would encounter some things and our faith is so weakened that we begin to wonder if there is a God in heaven. Life may become harsh, people may seem unfair and unkind, we may be mocked and challenged just like King Hezekiah. However, as children of God, there is a security that comes with trusting God. Even when life seems rude, there is this confidence we have, that makes us stand firm just like David in front of Goliath.

2 Kings 18:5-7  He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.
For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
And the LORD was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

King Hezekiah in the above verses was described as a man who trusted in the Lord. He was confident in his God so much that he made a difference as there was no king like him, even after him. And his trust in God brought him victories in all his ways!

Now, reading down that portion of the scripture, it is seen that after sometime, he was challenged by the king of Assyria, who asked him what he was basing His confidence on. It is a thing to trust in God partially while relying on human power and it is another thing to totally rely and trust in God. Over the years, it has continually been proved that man's help is vain and unreliable. This was confirmed by the words of King Sennacherib in 2 Kings 18:21

AMP:Behold, you are relying on Egypt, that broken reed of a staff; if a man leans on it, it will pierce his hand. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust and rely on him.

Psalms 118:8-10  It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.

However, king Hezekiah's trust was never in man but in God and certainly the Lord did not disappoint him as he was victorious over Sennacherib even without having to go out against him in war.
So, who do you base your trust on? Who do you rely on? In whose is your confidence?

Remember, though your enemies may be stronger than you, they are not stronger than God.

Psalms 125:1
They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
